    1. 2024 West Lutheran Gala, celebrating 45 years in the ministry

    Look for the 2024 gala invite to be sent the week of Feb. 26th and gala website to go live to purchase tickets! Don’t delay as this is an amazing opportunity for socializing with families and faculty/staff while supporting our high school. This popular fundraiser event has sold out for the past two years!

    1. MAP Testing - Next Week (Feb. 27th, 28th, & 29th)

      • Grades 9-11 will be MAP testing for the Spring MAP testing session next week in the morning.

        • Tuesday, 27th is MATH

        • Wednesday, 28th is READING

        • Thursday, 29th is LANGUAGE

    The classes for the day will rotate so there will be minimal classes missed. Even though Seniors do not test, they are still expected to be at school on time and attend all of their classes as they are regularly scheduled.

    Calling out for help, Junior parents!

    1. Junior Job Shadow - Looking For: Interested Parents willing to Share your Career/Profession

      • The Junior Job Shadow day is coming up - Friday, May 3rd

      • All Juniors are required to participate in a full or half day Job Shadow experience

      • If you are someone who would love to give back to West, share the love of your career/profession, and allow a WLHS student to shadow you, please complete this Google form.

      • Please direct any questions to our Guidance Counselor Heather Kattner at hkattner@westlutheran.net

    1. College Fair @ West Lutheran Large Gym - Monday, March 4th from 5 to 6:30pm

      • All West students and parents are welcome to join! Open-house style so come at any time that works for you.

      • 35+ College/organization reps eager to talk to you and your student during this time.

      • Students can participate in College Fair BINGO to earn tickets to the prize drawings. A LOT of student prizes given away every 15 minutes - students must be present to win!

      • Please encourage your student to RSVP to this event by filling out this Google form. (The first 25 entries receive an extra 5 tickets into the drawing!)

    1. Course Request Rollout Information for the 24/25 School Year

      • Tuesday, March 5th

        • Your student will receive their Individual Course Request Packet from their homeroom teacher.

          1. This Packet must be signed by the student, parent/guardian, AND the students homeroom teacher after the HR teacher has viewed their advisee’s online FACTS inputs for accuracy. All of these steps must be completed by the time the course request window closes for it to be considered on time.

      • Wednesday, March 6th

        • “Course Request Rollout” Slideshow presentation (Afternoon Lyceum schedule) Students should bring their Individual Course Request Packets with them.

      • Thursday, March 7th

        • Course Request window OPENS - Students can start selecting their classes via their FACTS family portal.

        • PSEO (Post-Secondary Enrollment Option) Information Lunch Meeting for any interested rising Juniors and Seniors.

      • Friday, March 8th

        • AGVA (Amazing Grace Virtual Academy) Informational Lunch Meeting for any interested students.

      • Friday, March 15th

        • Course Request window CLOSES - Students must have their online inputs selected, as well as their Individual Course Request Packets submitted back to their homeroom teacher by the end of the day in order to be considered on time.

      • Schedules for the 24/25 school year for our rising Sophomores, Juniors, & Seniors will be released within the 1st/2nd week of June.

    1. Senior Decision Day - Thursday, May 9th from 9:15-10:30am

      • We would like to apologize in advance if this will cause any disruption to already made plans, however, this is the *new* date, as our original date (the 8th) happened to fall on the same day as a Senior class's AP exam.

      • We hope that all of our Senior Parent(s)/Guardian(s) can join us as we get to celebrate our hardworking Seniors and the decision they have made to begin the next chapter of their lives. Opportunities for photos, mingling, and congratulating your student and their fellow classmates.

      • Parent(s)/Guardian(s) are encouraged to wear apparel that is representative of their students' decision.

    1. Are you, or do you know a West Lutheran High School Alumni? Did you know that West Lutheran is celebrating its 45th Anniversary? We would love to be able to connect with all alumni in celebrating this milestone! We are in the planning stages of an Alumni event on Sat. May 18, 2024 at the Medina Entertainment Center (more information to follow). Please forward/fill out this link so that we can get in touch with you!

    1. Call Accepted/Call Declined

      • On Sunday January 21st, 2024 West Lutheran High School Board of Regents extended a call to Pastor Isaac Cherney, for our Religion & Latin teacher/Campus Pastor.

        • Pastor Isaac Cherney has accepted the call to WLHS. He and his family will be moving to MN this summer and we are excited to have Pastor Cherney join the West Faculty as Campus Pastor, Religion & Latin teacher.

    1. West Lutheran Fine Arts Booster Club is hosting a plant fundraiser through Gertens online fundraising!

      • The group will earn 30% on plants and 15% on Gertens Plant Cards.

    1. Spring Lacrosse Registration Deadline

      • Spring Lacrosse Athletic Registration has been extended to Feb 23rd. Registrations after this date will not be accepted due to coaching and equipment needs.

    1. Cosmic Pickleball Tournament Fundraiser

      • People of all ages and skill levels are invited to participate in a cosmic (glow in the dark) pickleball tournament on Saturday, March 16th in the West gymnasium. The proceeds will go to the Warriors baseball team's travel and equipment fund.

        • The cost will be $50 per team ($25 per person) for adults and $30 per team ($15 per person) for students. We will provide paddles if you don't have one.

    1. Track and Field Apparel Form 2024

      • Track and Field is right around the corner and the order form for any apparel is up and open. If you would like to order any clothing or gear for the upcoming season please have your orders in by February 19th.

    At the State Championship this weekend, our West Lutheran Robotics team, The Aluminum Warriors, brought home the Judges [ ... ]

    At the State Championship this weekend, our West Lutheran Robotics team, The Aluminum Warriors, brought home the Judges Award and a Nano Division Finalist Award. We also had two students, Connor Weibeseck and Nate Speidel, qualify as finalists for the Stratasys Scholarship which covers 3D Printing, Coding, Engineering, and Project Leadership. Connor Weibeseck walked away with a Stratasys Scholarship for the Coding Award. 

    Way to go students and way to go Warriors! Congratulations on your many accomplishments throughout the season!
