NOVEMBER 2019

Ron Brown Scholarship  

  • African American High School Seniors are encouraged to apply.
  • Named for the late secretary of commerce and inspired by his dedication to public service, the Ron Brown Scholar Program offers a $40,000 scholarship to up to 30 African American high school seniors each year based on academic excellence and commitment to public service. 
  • Recipients are young African Americans of outstanding promise who are offered intensive mentorship, service opportunities, leadership experiences, and extensive professional development throughout all stages of their careers.
  • Applications must be mailed to the Ron Brown Scholar Program office with a postmark dated no later than January 9, 2020.

Prudential Spirit of Community Awards!

  • Students in grades 5-12 who have volunteered within the past year are encouraged to apply.
  • To apply: Go to the "certification" tab on the application, then email instructions to your certifier.
  • Applications can be certified by a middle or high school principal, or the head of a county 4-H organization, Girl Scout council, American Red Cross chapter, YMCA or Points of Light Global Network member.
  • Honors are granted at the local, state and national level. Top honorees in each state receive a scholarship and an all-expense-paid trip with a parent or guardian to Washington, D.C.

Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship

  • Applicants will be judged on academics, leadership experiences, and financial need
  • 500 of the highest-rated applicants will receive scholarships ranging from $4,000 to $50,000

Cooke - College Scholarship Program 

  • High-achieving High School Seniors with financial need who seek to attend and graduate from the nation's best four-year colleges and universities. 
  • Exceptionally promising high school seniors with financial need can apply exclusively through The Common Application.

DECEMBER 2019

Presidential Scholarships (Montana State University) 

  • The expectations are a cumulative GPA of 3.75 and a composite score of 30 on the ACT or 1400 on the SAT. 
  • Applicants must demonstrate leadership and commitment to public service. 
  • Past presidential scholars have received the Rhodes, Gates-Cambridge, Truman, Mitchell and Goldwater scholarships and gave gained admission to the nation’s top graduate and professional schools.

The Comcast Leaders and Achievers® Scholarship Program 

  • High School Seniors who demonstrate community service, academic performance and leadership skills. 
  • Award Amount - $2,500.
  • Applicants to the Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program must:
    • Have a demonstrated commitment to community service, outstanding qualities in character, integrity and leadership
    • Be enrolled as a high school senior
    • Reside in one of the communities listed on the program website
    • Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college or university in the United States for the entire 2020-2021 academic year
    • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent)
    • Demonstrate financial need

AXA Achievement Scholarship                                                

  • High School Seniors applying to college for the fall 2020 semester
  • Applicants have the opportunity to receive $2,500, $10,000 or $25,000 scholarships.            
  • AXA Achievers are ethnically and economically diverse and also share these qualities: ambition and drive, determination to set and reach goals, respect for self, family and community, and the ability to succeed in college.

Burger King Scholars Program   

  • Scholarship grants range from $1,000 to $50,000  
  • Applicants are citizens of the U.S., seniors who are applying as full-time freshman to a four-year college or university, have at least a 3.3 GPA and an ACT score of 25 or higher  
  • Selection criteria includes academic achievements, participation in school and community activities, length of employment, work experience and financial information

Final Fantasy Fan Scholarship

  • $1000 scholarship for High School students.
  • Submit an essay answering why final fantasy has made you a better student in 5 paragraphs or less. It's simple, it's open-ended, and what we are looking for is your raw passion for gaming and being the best student, leader, and person you can be!

Hooked To Books Scholarship

  • One $1500 scholarship will be awarded
  • Applicant must submit an 800-word essay answering one of the following questions: How did a book change your life? What book mirrors your life? What book got you hooked to books?

JANUARY 2020

Foot Locker Scholar Athletes Program

  • 20 scholar athletes will be awarded $20,000 scholarship
  • Applicants are High School Seniors who are currently in good standing of a high school sports team or are involved in after school sports.
  • Must be entering college in the Fall of 2020 as a Freshman at an accredited four-year institution for an undergraduate degree.
  • Maintained a GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Demonstrate exceptional academic ability and strong leadership skills in sports, school, and within their communities.

GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program 

  • 20 scholarships of $10,000 renewable for four years and ongoing leadership development support
  • Applicants excel in leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship, and have a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Additionally, applicants must be citizens of the United States and plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study toward a bachelor’s degree at a four-year college or university

Saint Therese Senior Care Scholarship

  • Two $2,000 scholarships will be awarded Applicants are between the ages of 15 to 18 who have volunteered at least 20 hours with a senior citizen
  • Eligible applicants have spent time impacting the lives of seniors (relative or non-relative) in a care center or within one's community - volunteer hours may be spent the following ways: one-on-one visits, doing household chores, raking leaves, shoveling snow, grocery shopping, etc.

The APIA Scholarship 

  • Open to Asian and Pacific Islander American students who'll be enrolling or are currently enrolled in a U.S. accredited college or university as a degree-seeking undergraduate student in the fall of 2020.

Argumentative Essay Contest

  • High School Juniors and Seniors may apply
  • A suggested word count ranges between 650 and 1000 words. However, a winning essay may lie outside this range.
    • Topic:  “Should public high schools require students to pass Algebra II?”  
  • The best advocate and best critic of the prompt will each be awarded a small cash prize ($320 each). We value students' ability to utilize all three modes of persuasion -- ethos, logos, and pathos -- much more than the stance taken.

Maple Grove Lions Club - Dick Reimer Scholarship

  • Graduating High School Seniors may apply & applicant MUST RESIDE IN MAPLE GROVE DURING THEIR SENIOR YEAR.
  • One letter of recommendation is required (wide variety accepted: employer, volunteer group leader, teacher, pastor, counselor, etc.)
  • (1) Award of $5,000 & (20) Awards of $1,500 will be awarded to be applied to the winning student's enrollment in a college, university, or trade school for the 2020/2021 academic year.

FEBRUARY 2020

United Educators Foundation Scholarships for Educators, Education Major Students and Graduating High School Seniors.

  • Open to High School Graduating Seniors who must be a member of United Educators Credit Union OR be the child, grandchild, or dependent of a current credit union member.
  • Awards are: one $2,000 Educator Award, one $1,500 Education Major Award, and three $1,000 Student Awards. 
  • A committee of educators, foundation board of directors, and a representative from Education Minnesota will select the winners. Scholarship recipients will be notified in April of 2020.

Minnesota Masonic Charities Vocational or 2-Year College Scholarship

  • Award Amount - $3,000
  • Awards Available: 20
  • High school students interested in attending vocational, technical or 2-year college programs should apply.
  • Students must have graduated from a Minnesota high school, and provide information on their career path or area of study. 
  • Ten (10) 2-year and ten (10) vocational/technical awards will be offered each year at $1,500 per year up to two years or $3,000.

Alpha Kappa Psi Scholarship

  • Already admitted student into the Carlson School at the University of Minnesota may apply.
    • These applicants are not required to join this student organization.
  • Scholarship awards range between $5,000 and $25,000.

MARCH 2020

Catch a Break! Scholarship Program 

  • Offering awards of up to $44,000 per scholarship recipient, through a 4-year, renewable scholarship of up to $11,000 per year.
  • Applicants must have faced challenges in life and learned from them, be highly motivated, be a U.S. citizen and a MN resident, have a composite ACT score of 24 or higher and have financial need, and be attending a 4-year public college in Minnesota.

SFM Foundation Scholarship 

  • Any High School student whose parent(s) were killed or seriously injured in workplace accidents while working for Minnesota or Iowa employers may apply.
  • Award amounts can range up to $10,000 per year, for up to five years.

APRIL 2020

Driven Coffee Scholarship

  • One $500 scholarship will be awarded on May 1, 2020            
  • Applicant must be enrolled in a college, university, community college, or trade school in the USA or Canada.
  • To apply, applicants must submit a 3 short essays, 500 word maximum per essay.
    • Topics: 1) What drives you to be a better person? What is your motivation to impact lives and make a difference? 2) What are you currently doing to better your local community? How are you giving back? 3) How are you going to use your education to help impact others in the future and make the world a better place?

The Signet Classics Student Scholarship Essay Contest

  • High School Juniors or Seniors to write an essay about Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte. 
  • Awards range from Five (5) Grand Prize Winner(s) who will each receive (i) a check for one thousand dollars ($1,000) to be used toward winner’s tuition and/or expenses related to their higher education; and (ii) a Signet Classics Library for the Winner’s school library (Grand Prize Approximate Retail Value: $2,600)

Minnesota Association of Townships Scholarship Program

  • High School Juniors may apply.
  • (up to) 5 Juniors will be awarded scholarships in the amount of $2,000.
  • Applicants must complete an application, submit a written essay (450-500 words. Topic found on their website), and a letter of recommendation from a high school teacher or counselor.

Don't Text And Drive Scholarship       

  • One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded
  • Any student, grades 9-12, is eligible to apply
  • Applicants must be a US citizen or legal resident
  • Applicants must write a 140-character message about texting while driving
  • Top ten applications will be selected as finalists and will need to write a 500- to 1,000-word essay about texting and driving
