He is Risen! He is Risen Indeed! Alleluia!

Luke 24:32 “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?”

Whenever I read this passage of the disciples on the way to Emmaus, I have to ask myself, “Does my heart burn when I hear Scripture preached to me?” Sadly, I have to say, “No.” I wish it did, but my sinful nature gets in the way. My sinful nature wants to say to me, “You’re too tired to pay attention! You have too much work to get caught up on! You’ve heard this scripture lesson so many times before. ”  During this season of Lent and Easter, fight against the devil’s temptation to not take your faith seriously and go to the cross with him, but also then see the empty tomb. That empty tomb should be a daily reminder that our Savior Jesus, rose from the dead, conquering sin, death, the devil. That empty tomb should be the daily reminder that Jesus has paid for all the times we didn’t put him first in our lives. Christ has conquered Satan and now we can wait in anxious anticipation for when we will get to join Jesus and all believers in heaven.

I want to take this time to thank you all for the encouragement you have given to West’s faculty, staff, and students over these last few difficult years. Your thoughts, prayers and generous support are truly a blessing to us all and greatly appreciated. Our West enrollment continues to grow as we are planning for 175 students next year (2019 = 132 students) with 55+ freshmen. Continue to encourage friends and coworkers to look at West as a possible school for their high school students.

If you are interested in discussing creative ways to support the ministry at West Lutheran, we would love for you to set up an appointment to meet and get to know Mark Kaesmeyer, our new Director of Mission Advancement. He can be reached at: 763.498.9940 or mkaesmeyer@westlutheran.net. You may also scan the QR code for online giving or use the “tear off” section at the bottom of this page to send a gift to West Lutheran.

May the Lord continue to bless you and our entire West family. Feel free to stop in any time and see some of the changes that West has made.

Yours in Christ’s Service,
Dave Gartner
