General Science
Grade
Level: 9
Course
Credit: One
Prerequisite(s):
None
Description:
An introductory science course including laboratory activities.
The course presents a wide range of physical science topics
with emphasis on chemistry and physics. Throughout the course,
science concepts are explained using familiar examples. In
addition, students are exposed to the excitement of science
through discovery of its importance beyond the classroom and
laboratory.

Biology
Grade
Level: 10
Course
Credit: One
Prerequisite(s): None
Description:
Biology is the study of life as God has created it. Understanding
life and life processes depends on mastering the unifying
principles and concepts applicable to all life forms. Taught
as sequential units, this course begins with the underlying
chemistry and systems of life and progresses through microbiology,
botany, zoology and physiology.

Chemistry and Honors
Chemistry
Grade
Level: 11-12
Course Credit: One
Prerequisite(s):
For Chemistry: Algebra I or consent of instructor;
For Honors Chemistry: Algebra II (which may
be taken concurrently with this chemistry course), a B+ or
better average in previous science courses and consent of
instructor.
Descriptions:
Chemistry is the study of creation from the point
of view of its smallest particles. The nature of matter including
its structure, characteristics, properties and reactions is
discovered studied through laboratory activities, readings
and classroom discussion.
Honors
Chemistry is designed primarily for students
who are oriented toward math and science-based careers. It
involves a more rigorous theoretical and mathematical approach
to chemistry topics and an accelerated pace.

Physics
Grade
Level: 12
Course
Credit: One
Prerequisite(s):
Algebra II or consent of instructor
Description:
Physics is a science that is concerned with the relationship
between matter and energy that our God created and designed.
The focus of our study will be on what energy is, the forms
it takes, how it changes from one form to another and how
it affects matter. Labs will be incorporated as necessary
throughout the chapters. These will be used to gain hands-on
experience and used as application to properties and concepts
that are studied. A field trip to an amusement park is also
part of the second semester course outline.

Environmental Science
Grade
Level: 11, 12
Course Credit: One
Prerequisite(s): Biology and consent of instructor
(chemistry is recommended)
Description:
A college prep course, environmental science is an application
of the principals of biology and chemistry to the systems
of the environment with a concentration on Minnesota’s
lake environments. A strong emphasis will be placed on field
and lab activities. Participants should be prepared for required
trips into the field which often take place outside of the
school day.
