Western Civilization with Mr. Veach

The sophomores in Western Civilization have recently finished “Little Books” on Peter the Great. We researched unique and bizarre facts and published them into hand folded books. Lately, we have been learning about the Age of Reason. The students have read primary documents, debated in class the value of reason in history and connected all this to the present and future. Just some of the authors we are studying include: Adam Smith, John Locke, Denis Diderot, Newton, Montesquieu, and Rousseau.

Political Science with Mr. Veach

The seniors in Political Science are learning about the third branch of government, the judicial branch. We are doing this by focusing on interactive Smart Board generated simulations that help teach key concepts. The simulations have had the seniors running to the board, thinking on their feet, and actually retaining knowledge using active learning. We have learned about district courts, courts of appeal, and special courts. Later this week we plan on running simulations of actual Supreme Court cases.
