General Chemistry with Mr. Merten
This course has been “tweaked” over the last few weeks to help make chemistry a little more personal for the class. Students have brought in tap water samples from home and have been running professional level testing using a spectrophotometer on loan from the Conservation District. Some of the tests have included fluoride, nitrates and manganese. This data was combined into a map/data display that shows how area water compares between these homes.
Between now and the end of the year this course will be morphing into an Environmental Chemistry class and include a guest speaker who has worked with environmental cleanup incidents (thanks Mr. Eckberg), a stream study and seeing the environment from a chemistry point of view.
Religion 12 with Pastor Ladner
“Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.” (Revelation 1:3)
Many Christians feel that the book of Revelation is difficult to read and hard to understand. However, God promises a blessing for those who hear and believe this message that the Holy Spirit gave to the Apostle John. Our Senior Religion class is currently studying the book of Revelation. Although the book of Revelation uses symbolic language that may seem difficult to understand, the Bible itself interprets the book of Revelation for us. We have seen how the symbolic numbers (3, 4, 6, 7, 10 and 12), colors (white, red, black, and pale), and creatures (the Lamb, the serpent, the dragon and the beasts) all have a special meaning in their context.
In Revelation God gives us a picture of the general conditions of the world during the New Testament era. Jesus assures us that he is in control of all things and that ultimately believers will be with Jesus in the New Jerusalem above. (Revelation 21-22)
At times the symbolism of the book of Revelation may be difficult to understand. However, as we have seen in our study of Revelation, this book clearly presents the basic message of the Gospel: “To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood . . . to him be glory and power forever and ever! Amen.” (Revelation 1:5-6) “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” (Revelation 2:7)
