Psychology with Mr. Merten

The class discussed the topic of cognitive psychology behind memory including:
  • the variety of accounts given by multiple eyewitnesses of an event (in this case a still photo was viewed from a surveillance camera at bank robbery; students were challenged to recall all the features of the perp after a 20 second view)
  • the methods of enhancing recall when preparing for a test (the encoding of materials is assisted by semantically attaching meaning to the memory items)
  • the dangers of the recalling suppressed memories when the memories themselves are mistakenly implanted by the counselor

Latin II with Pastor Ladner

Students collaboratively used Google Docs to simultaneously translate and edit sections of Julius Ceasar's writings as they developed a single classroom translation.   This is much the way a group of scholars might collaborate on a single document translation such as a new Bible translation.
