How many years has West been in existence?
West Lutheran High School was incorporated in 1978, with classes beginning September of 1979. We are celebrated our 30 year anniversary during the 2009-2010 school year.
How many years have you been at the current facility in Plymouth?
West moved to the Plymouth campus in December of 1996. Previously they had rented space in St. Louis Park and Hopkins. During the 2000-2001 school year, we were outgrowing the building and found the need to expand. In 2002-2003, we finished the second level of this addition. In 2010 we purchased the adjoining property and expanded our parking lot and added signage.
How many students are enrolled at West Lutheran High School?
The enrollment for the 2011-2012 school year is 160 students. We currently have 36 freshmen, 40 sophomores, 28 juniors and 56 seniors enrolled.
What is your maximum enrollment?
75 students per grade level is the maximum enrollment. Each grade is broken into smaller sections of no more than 25 students per class.
What is your maximum class size?
The goal is no more than 25 students in a class. In many classes, where students are eligible for more electives the class size can be much smaller. The average class size is 18 students and the student to teacher ratio is 11:1. For the core instruction classes, we typically run three sections of each of these, so the total student count for that grade level would be divided amongst the three sections.
What is the tuition cost?
Tuition for the 2011-2012 School Year is:
Association Member 1st Student = $6,900. 2nd Student = $5,175
Non-Association Member 1st Student = $8,475 2nd Student = $6,375.
How many churches are included in your association?
There are 20 Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran (WELS)/Evangelical Lutheran (ELS) churches located throughout the metropolitan area.
What are your school hours?
The school day begins at 8:15 am and ends at 2:50 PM.
