There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven... -Ecclesiastes 3:1   2/77 First meeting to discuss possibility of another Lutheran high school in the Twin Cities area. Dave/Lanita Farstad, Jim/Bev Pearson, Ed Sorgatzs, Wayne Loefflers, Ray Schmidts met at Farstad’s home. 9/78 Survey of potential students conducted. Association members voted overwhelmingly to proceed with Planning Phase. 8/26/79 School opening and installation service for teachers held at Cross Lutheran Church in Rockford.   1st pork chop BBQ done by Duane and Rita Beise and Bill and Caroline Bechtold. Due to rain storm that day, the chops had to be grilled in Pastor Robert Kant’s garage!   Full-time: Sharon Gieseke, Adair Moldenhauer   Part-time: Jan Nelson, Leonard Rogness, Pastor Iver Johnson, Pastor Thomas Westendorf   Volunteers: An active volunteer program began 9/79 School begins with complete staff in temporary quarters at Rockford.   Enrollment is 12 (seven in grade 10 and five and grade 9)   Paul Boecher designed the West logo 7/80 Jim Wooster, third full time instructor installed   Deloris Jensen sets up library  8/80 Facilities in former Central Junior High School in St. Louis Park leased 9/80 School begins with complete staff Full-time: Moldenhauer, Gieseke, Wooster Part-time: Pastor Michael Mulinix, Pastor Marvin Hanke, Lauralee Elness, Jan Nelson, Lois Wilmo Staff: Marie Bendeich, secretary Enrollment including 17 freshmen totals 31 The first basketball teams took the floor in 1980. The first Drama Club play was performed under the direction of Kathy Boecher. Twenty-five acres of land were purchased in Medina in 1980, but was sold later. 7/83 Relocated to Eisenhower Community Center in Hopkins Faculty:   Added Doran Fischer, 6 full-time and 2 part-time Enrollment:  59 1984  Wise Penny opens 3/19/84  First “Warrior For a Day” held 7/86   Full-time:  Added Principal Mark Grubbs, Don Kerr, Rev. Robert Wassermann (85) speaker 2/95 Began a feasibility study with Schmeling and Thurmer Assoc of Milwaukee 2/23/95 Board votes to proceed with planning and fundraising needed to build 4/95 Merl Meitner was called to be the Resource Development Director 6/95 Mickey Pipkorn begins as Assistant to the Development Director 6/23/95 Purchased 7 ¼ acres of land at 3500 Harbor Lane N, Plymouth Initiated “Building a Foundation for Life” Capital Campaign 3/17/96 Board votes to proceed with construction of 25,000 sq. ft. facility 4/21/96 Groundbreaking service was held 9/20/96 Students pick up rocks to help clear building site 12/07/96 Moved into our first permanent facility at 3350 Harbor Ln N with an enrollment of 107 1/17/99 Board votes to expand present facility by adding 14,000 sq ft 2/04/99 WLHS was recognized as one of the exemplary WELS Lutheran high schools through the Ministry in Lutheran High School Recognition Program sponsored by AAL 3/99 The “Growing in Christ” Capital Campaign got underway for the phase one building expansion. 20th Anniversary Service, Dr. Dan Schmeling speaker 3/16/00 Minnesota Nonpublic School Accrediting Association (MNSAA) granted full accreditation 4/09/00 Groundbreaking for phase one building expansion 5/17/02 - 5/18/02 First Kindergarten Days held at West.  Invited Cross of Christ and Mt.Olive, Delano 5/02 Pastor Freddy Krieger resigns for health reasons Shirley Pick retires after 21 years as Administrative Assistant 11/02 Completed the second level of the new addition.  Includes two classrooms, fitness center, learning coordinator office, and bathrooms 8/29/03 1st West football game at Spring Grove 10/03/03 First football homecoming game held at Holy Angels HS football field 1/04 Dwelling on His Word Capital Campaign begins.  Plan to raise $750,000 to purchase land for athletic fields 5/09 Campaign Strengthening the Lampstand begins with a goal of $400,000 to offset debt and add funds for parking lot expansion 5/09 Parking lot expansion begins 6/30/09 Brenda Gladowski retires after serving West Lutheran for 24 years       TO GOD BE THE GLORY
