Description: Western Civilization is an examination of Western Civilization from Prehistory to the French Revolution. This course begins with a general survey of ancient civilizations. We later study those people and nations that have had the greatest impact on Western civilization, with special attention given to the growth and spread of Christianity.
American History:

Description: A seminar type class that emphasizes class participation and analytical thought. It is a survey class in that it begins with the settlement of the colonies and proceeds through The Regan administration. This class uses video, projects, discussion, essays, primary readings, and political cartoons as learning tools.
Political Science:

Description: Political Science is a two semester course in the basic principles of democracy and their application to the United States’ government. The basic operations of the US government will be explored, primarily on the national level. Contemporary topics affecting the government will be debated by the students and current events monitored. Most importantly, the role of the Christian in God’s two kingdoms will be explored.
Advanced Placement American History:

Description: Advanced Placement United States History is comparable to an introductory college course in U.S. Civilization. A college-level text, The American Pageant, is the main resource and is supplemented by primary and secondary source readings.
The course content begins with the Discovery and Settlement of the New World, proceeds through the Colonial period, the Revolutionary Period, the New Nation, the Civil War, the Gilded Age, the Progressive Age, World Wars I and II, the Cold War (including the Korean and Vietnam conflicts), and concludes with the administrations of Reagan.
PSEO Western Civilization I:
Grade Level: 12
Course Credit: 0.5 high school credits, 4 college credits
Prerequisite(s): B+ in social studies classes, B+ in English class, and a 3.25 GPA
Description: Taught cooperatively with Concordia University, this course will cover early civilization until the Renaissance. Classes will be taken on campus but credits will be awarded via Concordia.
Human Relations:

Description: One semester psychology course aimed at a basic understanding of human behavior. Areas of study will include the field of psychology, the brain, development, personality and mental disorders.
