2016 Summer Volunteers
We are looking for summer volunteers to do some work in and around the high school. Some of the work includes painting hallways and classrooms, light landscape work and flower planting, and some construction framing. Volunteers should have some experience with this type of work.
In preparation for the commons redesign and safety upgrades we will also be clearing the commons area on June 8th, starting at 9:00am. We are looking for 5-10 adults who would be willing to help during the day. Crowbars, hammers, power drills, work gloves and other demo tools are needed. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. If you are able to help in this demolition project or with any of the volunteer work above, please contact Mr. Wiechmann at email@example.com.
Wise Penny Thrift Store
Located in Buffalo, the thrift store donates 75% of its profits to West Lutheran. These contributions have reduced each student’s tuition at least $1000 per year! Each family is required to work at least two 3.5 hour shifts per student per year at Wise Penny between June 1, 2016 and June 1, 2017. Sign up online!
Several of our current international students could use your tutoring help. In general, they need additional practice using their English and one-on-one opportunities to work on reading pronunciation and comprehension. Tutors would be reinforcing and practicing classroom lessons. Read more information on becoming an ESL Tutor.
Volunteers are needed to help serve on various days and possibly to pick up from area restaurants. If you are available for 1-2 hours beginning at 11:30am and are willing to help, please contact Lorraine Gerdes.
